BAY PRESCHOOL/DAY CARE
OPEN HOUSE MAY 29TH!
Have you been thinking about where your child will be preparing for kindergarten? You need affordable care that will prepare your child to excel in kindergarten and beyond. Give your kids the head-start they need with all-day Preschool care at the Bloomsburg Area YMCA, with extended care hours available for working families.
Visit our Open House on Tuesday, May 29th to meet our dedicated teachers and discover how we give kids the knowledge and confidence they need to be ready for kindergarten and beyond! We hope you will join us on May 29 to discover our mission to help kids grow up happy and healthy. Financial Assistance is available to give all kids the chance to enjoy Preschool at the Y!
In order to make all-day preschool accessible to all families in our community, the Bloomsburg Area YMCA has reduced our BAY Preschool rates.
We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That’s why, through the Y, millions of youth today are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement.
Our Preschool program is open to all children ages three to five. We are dedicated to providing educational, social, and recreational activities in an atmosphere of joyful learning and mutual respect.
About our Program
Preschool is in session from September through May from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in 3-day and 5-day options, generally following the Bloomsburg Area School District calendar; our exact starting date will be available at the beginning of March.
There are two age group options available:
- 3 – 4 year olds – Classes emphasize socialization, language development, independence and motor skills in a small group setting.
- 4 – 5 year olds – Classes emphasize pre-kindergarten activities. Readiness, language development, social skills, pre-reading and printing, motor skills, and work habits are all taught in a positive environment with emphasis on individual abilities.
2-hour Extended Care sessions before and after preschool time are also available as a part of our Preschool program depending on a family’s needs, with Before-Preschool Care starting at 6:30 a.m. and After-Preschool Care ending at 5:30 p.m. If using Before & After care, parents may drop their child off any time between 6:30am-8:30am and pick their child up any time between 3:30pm-5:30pm.
To receive credit for vacation days, you must provide a notice at least 2 weeks in advance. Fees are set based on enrollment, not attendance; credit will be given for absences due to illness with a doctor’s excuse. Cancellation of care must be received in writing TWO WEEKS in advance of removal date.
Programs are filled on a first come, first served basis.
We will use the Creative Curriculum program in our Preschool. This program contains units and materials that encourage students to explore and discover new ideas. The Creative Curriculum emphasizes communication with parents, and features materials that parents can review, as well as an evaluation program to help teachers communicate a child’s success in the classroom.
In addition to this curriculum, teachers will lead units related to months, holidays, and special occasions following state standards.
Snacks are provided. Students must bring a lunch every day. Please do not use peanut products!
We participate in the Keystone STARS program, which is an initiative of the office of Child Development and Early Learning. Keystone STARS improves, supports, and recognizes the continuous quality improvement efforts of early learning programs in Pennsylvania. Learn more about Keystone STARS at www.pakeys.org
- Registration Fee: $25

Our Dedicated Teacher, Julia Frey
“I am very excited to have joined the YMCA as a preschool teacher, and am thrilled to be teaching your children.
I enjoy teaching young children and seeing their eyes light up when they learn something new.
I grew up in the area and went to school in Bloomsburg. I then attended Bloomsburg University and graduated in 2005 with a dual degree in Special and Elementary Education. I previously taught Autistic Support for ten years.”
