Fitness Center
The Bloomsburg Area YMCA offers a wide variety of fitness equipment, incentive programs and friendly, knowledgeable staff that are available to assist you all hours of the day. Our cardiovascular equipment includes elliptical machines, treadmills, Stairmaster steppers, rowers, recumbent cycles, stationary bikes and gauntlet. We offer a full line of Cybex Selectorized weight-training equipment. Free weight equipment includes Smith Machine, leg press and cable cross-over machines as well as a wide variety of free weight equipment.

To ensure safety of our members youths ages 10 - 12 need to complete an orientation and be accompanied by an adult.


Message Therapy

Enjoy a relaxing, therapeutic massage by one of our certified massage therapists. The type of massages available include Sports, Swedish (general), Deep Tissue, and Trigger Point.  Reflexology also available.  Must make appointment by Friday for the following Monday. The last appointment is made at 7:00pm.   Below are the rates as well as the appointment timetable. Appointments can be made at the Front Desk.

Personal Training

Do you need encouragement with your exercise program to achieve the maximum results you desire?   Our certified Personal Trainers can help you develop your own exercise program based on your needs and goals.  You will receive the one-on-one instruction that both educates, and motivates you to achieve a higher-level of fitness.  If you are ready to start and exercise program or would like to update your current fitness plan, stop in and visit with our Director of Program, Health and Wellness - Vanessa Sterner.

All sessions are approximately one hour in length. All participants must read and sign training contract. Personal Training is not included in scholarship program.


Group Fitness Classes*

Cardio Sculpt
A combination of fat-burning and muscle defining all in one class. Sessions consist of aerobic moves on and around the step integrated with upper body-building followed by sets of weight training for a strengthening workout. This segment promotes strength, endurance, and flexibility. Get lean!

Extreme Energy
Intense, dynamic work-out utilizing aerobics and weight-ranging body toning with free weights and body bars. Definitely for more advanced participants. Try it for a great work-out!

Fit & Flex
Are you nearing retirement age, but don't want to retire from life? Fit & Flex will keep you active and strong. The class offers one hour of stretching, strengthening, and cardiovascular exercise. Come for the workouts and stay for the friendships. Adults only.

Intermediate/Advanced Step/Traditional Step
High energy work-outs that will burn calories with a wide variety of challenging yet fun classes at convenient times. Morning or evening, advanced, step, interval, hi-low-we have the class for you here at the Y!

Kick Boxing
This interval-training fitness class is a combination of a cardiovascular work-out with non-contact boxing moves, finishing up with muscle defining exercises. Beginners to advanced participants are welcome.

Yoga
Asana practice is designed to be invigorating and will include standing and seated postures. Participants need not be flexible although recovery from prior injuries is recommended. Wear clothing that allows for movement and it is recommended that you come with an empty stomach (at least one hour from last meal).

Modified Yoga
This program is specifically designed to accommodate the physical, mental and spiritual realities of the *golden years.* The yoga postures and breathing techniques used in this class will focus on loosening joints, stimulating glands and strengthening the musculoskeletal system. Instructor: Ginny Mazzei (Himalayan Institute Certified Int'l. Assn. of Yoga Therapists).

Resistance Band Training
This class is designed to use resistance training increase lean muscle tissue so you burn more calories while continuing on with normal daily activities. The class will be held in the Gymnasium alternating between upper and lower body workout.

Silver Sneakers 1 & 2
Senior fitness class that offers a seated or standing exercise program.

Instructor's Choice
To spice things up this could be anyone of our great group fitness classes.

*Group Fitness classes are for ages 14 and older, 12 - 14 yrs of age must be accompanied by a parent. Classes and start times are displayed on monthly calender.
