I joined the Y because I wanted to see a before and after school program for the students in our community.

How long have you served on the Y Board?

I have been a board member for approximately 34 years.

In which YMCA events or programs have you been a participant?

I use the fitness room for exercise. Years ago, I played on a softball team. Years ago, I was on the committee for the dinner dance. I am chairperson for the YMCA yard sale and YMCA Bingo. I also attend some of the senior citizens’ luncheons.

What purpose do you feel the Y serves in our community?

I feel that the Y serves a number of purposes. We now have the before and after school program at two of our elementary schools. We have a preschool program and will be starting a day care program in the fall. We have many programs to promote physical fitness. We provide a variety of activities for senior citizens. We are a great place for socialization. We work in partnerships with other organizations to help the people of the community.
